Where to Find Progressive Businesses

There is no perfect way to vet a business, but the tools below are helpful.

  • Douglas County Activism Task Force Progressive Business List. List of businesses in or near Douglas County, Colorado that self identify as progressive, anti-Trump, pro-democracy, and safe for all.
  • If you are a business owner who wants to be on this list, sign up here.

  • DEI Watch. Website which lists businesses by how they handled their DEI policies. We’re not sure if the DEI list is updated, but they also have a list of websites to help consumers find Black owned businesses.

  • Everywhere is Queer. Website and app that help you find LGBTQIA+ owned businesses near you.

  • Goods Unite Us. Website and app that shows the political leanings of various companies based on campaign contributions.

  • Boycat. Website, app, and browser extension that helps you avoid brands that support the destruction in Gaza. 

  • These lists of minority-owned businesses on Etsy. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the lists.

5 Free Activities We Bet You Didn’t Know Came with Your Library Card

While the following information is specific to the Douglas County Library system in Douglas County, Colorado, many library systems nationwide have similar amenities.

  1. Watch movies and TV shows. Instructions for how to access downloads here.
  2. Read something you didn’t expect such as a magazine, newspaper, or digital children’s book. More information here.
  3. Check out something unexpected. The Douglas County Library has a list of nontraditional items you can check out, including virtual reality video game systems, a sewing machine, and a ukulele.
  4. Go for a walk or a hike. You can check out a state park pass from the library.
  5. Learn something! With your Douglas County Library Card you have access to LinkedIn Learning, Mango Languages and CreativeBug (free craft classes). [Note: LinkedIn is owned by Microsoft. Use appropriate caution when interacting with large corporations.]
